Things to Do in the Cazenovia Area

Experience the wonders of an Egyptian Tomb, including a complete mummy, at the Museum at the Cazenovia Public Library

A vibrant and classic downtown, an incredible music venue, cool culture plus handcrafted beer, cider, spirits, and wine—that’s just a taste of what you’ll find in the Cazenovia area.

Browse the many boutique and specialty shops of “Caz.” Here you’ll find everything from antiques and collectables to the newest in fashion. And there are plenty of excellent restaurants in town. Enjoy casual fine dining, including a buttery homemade popover, at the Lincklaen House. Follow up your meal with a visit to Critz Farms Brewing and Cider Co. or Owera Vineyards, two stops along the Cazenovia Beverage Trail.

Add some culture to your life by visiting the area’s arts and historical spots. The Lorenzo State Historic Site offers a variety of public programs, special events, tours of a neoclassical mansion, and seasonal festivals. Experience the wonders of an Egyptian Tomb, including a complete mummy, at the Museum at the Cazenovia Public Library or take in a play at Catherine Cummings Theatre.

And one can’t help but notice the 300-foot tall windmills that dot much of our landscape. Get a closer look at these turbines at the Fenner Wind Farm, home of the Fenner Renewable Energy Education (FREE) Center. You can tour the wind farm, learn about the benefits of wind, solar, hydro, and biomass energy, and even climb inside a 90-foot long propeller blade.

At night, visit The Nelson Odeon to hear regional, national and international artists play folk, rock, blues, western swing, and everything in between. This century-old wooden venue produces a sound like no other. And after the show, enjoy a pint by the fire at the Brae Loch Inn—the “most authentic Scottish pub west of Edinburgh”—and settle into your cozy room upstairs.
