Frogs and feathers, trees and flowers, can be found at nature\’s best by walking the bluebird trails at the Great Swamp Conservancy. An outdoor enthusiast\’s delight is a stroll on the unique 900 foot boardwalk though a flooded forest. Bring your binoculars and visit the Anne Pickard Overlook. This is a 60 acre restored wetland, which is a major resting stop for thousands of migratory birds each spring and fall. 185 species have been identified in the surrounding area. Trails and overlook are open from dawn to dusk. Picnic tables are available. Come enjoy the peace and beauty.

A hiking trail linking natural, cultural, and historic resources in Central New York, provides a connection between the Finger Lakes Trail and the Old Erie Canal Park in Canastota, only a few segments are still under construction. Attractions include Muller Hill State Forest, The Tioughnioga Wildlife Management Area, the Nelson Swamp Unique Area, the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park. The trail includes connections with the local Cazenovia Preservation Foundation Trail System and a major segment south of Canastota.

Set on the historic site of an Oneida Indian Village and recognized as the site of the 1615 Champlain-Oneida Battleground. There are 45 acres with nature trails for hiking and winter activities, an observation deck overlooking a wetland habitat, interpretive signs, pavilions and a picnic site with grills. The park is a great location to observe the Fenner Wind Power Project.

This county park is set on 125 acres of woodland, streams, and rugged terrain with a beautiful 100 foot waterfall. Located on the northern edge of the Helderberg Escarpment, it offers panoramic views stretching across Oneida Lake to Lake Ontario. Enjoy the ball field, hiking trails and New York State’s only 18 hole disc golf course.

This 194-acre park has campsites, picnic areas, fishing, and hiking trails. The main feature of the park is a 167 foot waterfall formed 10,000 years ago. A trail winds from the top of the falls down to the bottom.

The Fenner Renewable Energy Education Center, Inc. (FREE Center) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing education on renewable energy sources and technologies. Started as a grass-roots organization to share information about the Fenner Wind Farm, the FREE Center draws thousands of people to tour the wind farm each year, and continues to offer educational opportunities for municipalities, school districts, organizations, and individuals on the benefits of using renewable energy technologies including wind, solar, hydro, biomass, and others.

L. Frank Baum, author of the "Wonderful Wizard of Oz" was born in Chittenango May 15, 1856. His family owned a barrel factory in Chittenango. In addition to his many "Oz" books Baum also wrote other children’s stories and he wrote under other names as well as L.Frank Baum. His most famous book the "Wonderful Wizard of Oz" was made into the 1939 MGM classic film the "Wizard of Oz". Baums’s books and the "Wizard of Oz" movie are timeless and can be enjoyed by young and old alike.

Chittenango, the birthplace of "Oz", takes great pride in honoring our native son, L.Frank Baum and in celebrating the classic film the "Wizard of Oz", as well as "all things Oz". Join us for our annual festival the first weekend of June.
