Kallisto Alpacas is a small family farm in rural Upstate New York. On this website you will find out how my beautiful yarn is made and the alpacas that provide me with the wonderful fiber I use to create my yarns. I also create yarn with fiber from other locally owned New York State alpaca farms. My yarns are 100% all natural alpaca. No harsh chemicals have been used to process the yarn. The fiber has been hand washed, hand carded and hand spun.

Cazenovia College’s Equine Education Center is home to stabling for the College’s Hunter seat, Western and Dressage horses, and equine facilities that include an indoor riding arena, outdoor riding ring and grass riding field and the College’s Challenge Course, a low-ropes course used for team-building activities. The EEC hosts Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and Intercollegiate Dressage shows that are open for public viewing.

Established in 1985 and the 2002 New York State Agritourism Business of the Year, the farm operation centers on diversified agriculture with a family entertainment focus. The farm consists of approximately 325 acres of land, situated just 3 1/2 miles south of Cazenovia. Join us in the fall for our fall festival with pick your own pumpkins and fresh pressed cider in the Harvest Moon Cidery, come in December to cut your own Christmas Tree, come in the spring for the sweet taste of Maple Syrup and join us in the summer for fresh berry picking. New at the farm this year is the Harvest Moon Farm Winery coming in September 2011.

Located in historic Cazenovia, our 123 acre farm is nestled in a hollow astride Limestone Creek. The farm, which dates back to the early 1800’s, has found new life in the 21st century as home to our growing herd of quality alpacas. We offer seed stock and fiber animals for sale, as well as natural and custom dyed yarns, roving and raw fleeces for the fiber enthusiast. Nelson Farms, a state of the art facility is designed to bring your recipe to the marketplace. Three specialty kitchens are equipped with all necessary tools: aroma free kitchen, organic gluten free kitchen and a general purpose kitchen where most culinary needs may be met. Nelson Farms assists its customers from the development phase to distribution. This one stop shop minimizes risk and increases opportunity for success in moving your recipe out of the kitchen and into retail outlets.

Weekends in October, petting zoo, horse rides, corn maze and hayrides to the pumpkin patch and a large pumpkin throwing catapult. Our farm stand is open from Mid-September to the end of October, featuring pumpkins, gourds, and cornstalks for decoration. School groups are welcome. Please call for week day reservations. Empire Buffalo is a new bison farm, located in Madison County New York. We are now selling grass fed meat directly from our farm. Call us to come by and see the herd! Founded by Joe Lazarsky and Aileen Randolph, Empire Buffalo hopes to tap into central New York’s desire for sustainable---and tasty--products. Our herd is currently at 22 and we are planning to purchase another 20 animals this fall.

Jim Marshall Farms is a place of refuge for those who suffer from depressive illness. Every Sunday, May through October, we hold walk and talk sessions from 1-4pm. At Drover Hill Farm our emphasis is to produce the finest quality beef using the best animal husbandry practices and the best cattle available. The mission for the AED Program is to maintain, develop and promote a viable agricultural economy. The priorities for achieving that mission are: 1)marketing local agricultural products by creating market opportunities; and 2) encouraging value-added enterprises.

Morrisville’s high-tech dairy complex sits high on a hill overlooking the rest of the campus. Facilities include a freestall barn with an electronically enhanced milking parlor and classrooms connected to dairy cattle management software, two technologically advanced freestall heifer barns, and a calf barn. The college maintains a herd of 405 dairy cows. Each milking cow averages 22,000 pounds of milk per year, some which is used on campus. The college currently has two dairy programs, an associate degree in animal science - dairy and a bachelor degree in dairy management.

The Morrisville State College Equine Complex is one of the most comprehensive of any college in the nation. The Equine Breeding and Training Center, a 34,000 square-foot breeding and hunter/jumper facility, includes a breeding and foaling barn, hunter/jumper barn, five-stallion barn, a complete breeding laboratory, collection area, laptop classroom and three indoor riding arenas. In addition, the college has an 80-acre Equine Center complete with paddocks, stables, and the only half-mile harness racing track on a college campus in the nation. Additional stables include a draft horse barn with a covered round pen and runouts. The college houses more than 300 horses. The Equine Department conducts an annual yearling sale at the complex which is one of the largest of its kind in the Northeast. It also hosts several clinics each year, conducted by the top professionals in the industry.

The first commercial hop yard in Madison County in over 50 years, Foothill Farms is both preserving the past and shaping the future. By growing hops in much the same manner as hop farmers of the 19th century, Foothill Farms fills the needs of the micro-brewer and herbalist with certified hops. With an emphasis on apples, the farm have over 1000 trees with 32 varieties and more on the way. The farm also features plum, pear and cherry trees. Split Rail also features a pond with Koi and gold fish, wood ducks, mallards, and screech owls nesting. So slow down, stop by, have some cider and leave with a bag of apples.
