The DeRuyter Area (DeRuyter, Lebanon, Georgetown)

In Madison County's southern hills you will find a landscape that for years has delighted settlers and visitors alike. Long, narrow valleys, with towering hills on each side, become vibrant with colors every fall. Opportunity abounds for hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, snowshoeing and every other type of outdoor adventure you can think of.
The area is home to a growing population of Amish settlers. They visited, saw the beauty of cheap land, and a place to live that is not only peaceful but refreshing to the soul. As you travel throughout the southern hills it is common to come across not only horse and buggies but also farm fresh eggs on a roadside stand built by our Amish friends. Of course, roadside stands abound at farms that have been here for generations as well. On any given day you might find fresh maple syrup, sweet corn, squash, and all types of fresh produce when it is in season. Nothing tastes better than fresh corn in the summer, or a nice baked squash right from the farm stand to your dining room table.
